This course reviews infection prevention for oral healthcare settings according to the most current CDC Guidelines for Infection Control in Dental Health Care Settings and OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard. Scenarios will be discussed to assist dental professionals in identifying risks and applying standard precautions to break the infection cycle. Specific prevention controls to be discussed will include personal protective equipment, dental instrument cleaning and sterilization, dental unit waterline cleaning and testing, and developing and evaluating an effective infection control program.
